The National Weather Service office in Huntsville says they had officials in the Shoals today, completing surveys of damage caused by Sunday’s severe storms.
Officials say they have determined there were two tornadoes that touched down. One was in northeast Franklin County near Pogo and Red Bay. The other was in east central Colbert County in the Aycock Heights community near Leighton. NWS officials rate both as EF1 storms.
Shoals News has also received reports of minor wind damage throughout the Shoals, including roof damage and several fences blown down. No injuries were reported as a result of the storms.
The National Weather Service is expecting more severe weather on Thursday, and will release detailed updates before that time.
